Technical support, troubleshooting and opening worlds

suresh@visably.org.uk

I joined Visably in 2014, after completing a degree in IT. Over the past decade I've contributed to some of the most significant projects in the charity's recent history: the Sonata service, Speech Radio, Speech Talking Newspaper. I've watched the technology we offer change dramatically. The reason we offer it hasn't changed at all.

My role covers customer service and technical support, which in real terms means helping people with delivery, setup and troubleshooting for our devices, as well as researching new technology that could benefit our community. Living with sight loss myself, I bring personal experience alongside the technical knowledge. I know what it feels like when something becomes inaccessible. I also know what it feels like when the right tool gives it back.

Not everyone knows what's available to them. Making people aware of that – and then helping them access it – is one of the most satisfying parts of what I do.

A good day is getting someone new introduced to our service and watching their world open up. Every single time, it means something.

Outside of work, I love keeping up with the latest technology and travelling to new places whenever I can.
