Expanding possibility for all: our strategy & vision

A group of people chatting.

Technology is evolving faster than ever. But, for too many people living with sight loss, that progress is still out of reach. Costs and lack of reliable human support to use tech are leaving too many excluded.

That's the gap Visably exists to close.

We're transforming from a charity that gives devices into one that gives people with sight loss the right tech, and the confidence to make it part of their everyday life.

Our vision and mission

We exist to create a world where accessibility expands possibility for all.

Accessibility isn't a limit. It's a launchpad. When technology works for people with sight loss, it works better for everyone.

That's the world we're building — one person at a time.

Our vision is to give people with sight loss the best technology of their time and the confidence to use it — unlocking the most value from every penny and minute put in.

A future shaped by our community

Building something meaningful starts by listening.

Last year we asked people living with sight loss what they need from tech, and from us, in 2026 and beyond.

Our independent study shows how, for a person with sight loss, tech can boost the everyday. Tech means homework aced, family recipes cooked, bedtime stories read. But the power of tech runs so much deeper. Time and again, people who took part talked about how it can unlock belief, confidence, better mental health, and brighter tomorrows. On the flipside, when they couldn’t access or use tech as they wanted, people talked about feeling frustrated—inadequate even.

Our strategy and new services are built with our community and in direct response to what our research tells us people need from us.

How we're getting there

Confidence before kit

We put the person before the tech. No matter what the barrier, we're here to help. If cost is a barrier, we still provide free tech like we have done for nearly 100 years. If it's confidence, we'll be side-by-side with our community, providing support and solutions to help you get the most from tech.

A growing network of people-powered support

We're building a network of trained volunteers who deliver our service in person, over the phone and online — staying with people until the technology truly clicks.

Moving with technology

From radios to smart speakers, screen readers to AI glasses — we track new technology, test what works and make sure our community benefits first. We don't let progress leave people behind.

Partnerships that extend our reach

We work with sight loss charities, NHS eye clinics, schools and community organisations to reach people who need us — wherever they are.
