I qualified as an accountant in 2009, and I've spent my career in a wide mix of organisations – large businesses, small companies, including a few I ran myself, as well as the Charities Aid Foundation and Demelza children’s hospice. I’ve seen what good financial management looks like in a boardroom and what it looks like on a shoestring. I’ve learned from both.

Visably came into my life by accident. I was brought in as a consultant to cover for a colleague who was off sick. Two weeks became two months, two months became a year and somewhere along the way I stopped thinking of it as a temporary arrangement. I recently joined the staff team properly, which felt less like a new chapter and more like admitting what had been true for some time.

My role covers accounts, budgeting and financial planning. The thing I love most about working at a small charity is that it's never only that. I get pulled into projects across the organisation, asked questions that go beyond the spreadsheet, involved in decisions that actually shape where we're going. At a bigger organisation I'd be a function. Here I'm part of the team.

Outside of work, I spend time with my two teenage daughters and try to keep up with them. I love hiking, travelling and reading. In 2023 I cycled from London to Paris, which felt like an achievement until my daughters pointed out they could have done it faster.
