Governance and strategic leadership

I'm a qualified mechanical and production engineer who spent over 45 years working across private and public sectors in technology. Since retiring from executive life, I've focused entirely on board and non-executive roles as Chair of the Hospice Lottery Partnership, New Leaf Support and IOSH Services Ltd, among others. I also mentor charity leaders through Charity Mentors Kent and Medway. Governance, change management, CEO development and board restructuring are what I know best.

In 2008, I co-founded a UK Trade Association focused on interconnect technology, and I remain its Chairman. It's a reminder that the best organisations are built on clarity of purpose, the right people around the table and a willingness to keep evolving.

When I found the trustee role at Visably, the timing felt right. I was looking to work with a national charity, and the fact that it was also in the middle of a genuine transformation made it more exciting, not less. After four and a half decades in technology, I could see the synergy immediately.

I bring expertise in governance, strategic planning, change management and board development, including experience of transforming organisations that needed a clear direction and the right structure to get there. My hope is that some of that experience is useful as Visably grows into its next chapter.

Outside of work, I'm kept busy by the theatre, indoor bowls, walking our cockapoo and, when the weather obliges, touring on my motorcycle.
