A tribute to Paul Easton, friend of Visably

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Paul Easton, a longstanding Board member, supporter and friend of Visably. Paul sadly passed away last week at the age of 69. 

Paul was a firm supporter of Visably for more than 20 years. During that time he served on Visably’s Board of Trustees, including a period as Vice Chair of the charity. 

Margaret Grainger, Chief Executive of Visably, said: “Everyone at Visably is incredibly sad to hear the news of Paul’s passing. Paul was a well-known and well-loved figure in the world of radio and broadcasting. As a member of Visably’s Board of Trustees, he generously lent us his experience, expertise and connections to ensure that people with sight loss could enjoy the thing he was so passionate about: the radio. I will always think fondly of Paul’s caring, kind and thoughtful spirit. He truly was a gentleman and a gentle man.

Paul began his career at LBC in London, after years of volunteering with hospital radio. He went on to become LBC’s Head of Production and worked for a variety of different stations. Paul’s long and varied career saw him lecture in radio production and journalism at the London College of Communication as well as, latterly, working as a freelance programming consultant. It was during his time working as a consultant, that Paul started volunteering his time to support Visably.
